This letter and the contents of this package contain important information for you and your child/children, including:

To ensure that you and your scholar are set up for a successful 2022-2023 school year, please carefully review this letter and all the contents of this package! As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions you may have.

2022-2023 Important Dates

Calendar & Important Beginning-of-Year Dates Reminder

The 2022-23 Important Dates Calendar includes all of our school vacations and early dismissal days for the 2022-23 school year. As you know, at P.S. 309 no minutes of the day is wasted and learning begins from the moment students walk in the door. Students who are absent, who arrive late, or who leave early, miss critical instructional time and risk falling behind in our rigorous and fast-paced curriculum. Our school wide attendance goal is 93%; to achieve this, students must be present for school each day. For this reason, we ask that you use the Important Dates calendar to plan family vacations, doctor appointments for your scholar, etc., for days that we have no school, or after dismissal.

SCHOOL CALENDAR

School Uniform

Please note that we are a uniform school. We kindly ask for your cooperation in ensuring that your child comes to school daily in his/her school uniform. The uniform includes: light blue polo shirts and navy pants, skirts or jumper; navy sweatpants are allowed on days where students have physical education and/or outdoor field trips. We also allow navy logo polos and navy sweatshirts as part of our school uniform. Cookies is our certified uniform carrier and we have included pricing information in this correspondence.

While supplies last, we will be clearing out our school uniform inventory and all school shirts will be on sale for $5.00.

PS 309 is now offering open enrollment!

Our school is located at 794 Monroe Street Brooklyn NY 11221. Please ensure you bring the following documents.

* Acceptable proof of address (any two of the following documents)

• gas, the electric bill, or a water bill
• original lease, deed, mortgage statement
• official payroll documentation from an employer
• documentation or letterhead from a federal, state, or local government agency (IRS, NYC Housing Authority, ACS, Public Assistance)
• Temporary housing: if you are currently living with a friend or family member, please have him/her write a letter affirming that you are currently staying with them. The letter must be notarized.

*Child's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and/ 504 Accommodation Plan
